Freelance multimedia journalist


Trained in print and digital media, Zamayirha Peter began her career in journalism at the age of 16. Where she wrote an opinion piece on Feminism titled 'The Unapologetic Woman' which was published in an International digital magazine Destiny online. 

Zamayirha was also a script supervisor for a Nab'Ubomi production award winning short film screened on SABC 2 called 'Too Far Gone'. 

Academics 

After completing her honours in Media and Journalism at Wits University where she worked as a news reporter on Voice of Wits FM , and later as editor of Wits Vuvuzela Newspapers' Women's edition. 

Career

Zamayirha has appeared on Power FM's power perspective and writes weekly for Africa's leading political paper City Press. Where she has written numerous front page lead contenders. She also has in her first 24 months in working for a national media publication received offers to be an editor for community news paper The Rep, as well as an offer from BBC Africa and Daily Maverick.   


Social Entrepreneur 


Zamayirha Peter believes the cultural, social and environmental conditions of the world are as important as the profits a business makes. She believes social entrepreneurship should not be kept simply as a Corporate Social Investment division in companies but be collaborated into the culture and very nature of the 21st century business practices. 

She believes the regard of human labor and the identities behind the work are critical to the profitability and success of a company and should as a collective be seen as being paramount to the success of any organisation.

Zamayirha believes that many of today's ills are related to the social, cultural and environmental state of the world and require solutions which are persons centred.

Doing her part, Zamayirha Peter founded an ideas and implementation hub called; Ideas That Walk. ITW has a leadership hub which trains learners in schools on  critical timeless lessons on leadership. 

ITW also has a video and podcast series which look to educate and empower ordinary citizens through extraordinary stories.

Zamayirha Peter in her journalism work serves as a documenter and moderator of conversations between public figures, news makers and ordinary citizens. 

In her time in journalism she has made great strides interviewing global leaders of industry and public officials in government and the private sectors.

Zamayirha is SETA accredited effective communications specialist in line with the SAQA units standards.  She is informed on a number of issues that include but not limited to advocacy work for the equality of men and women. She also advocates for the simultaneous preservation of the girl and boy child. Zamayirha speaks on the importance of leading a purpose driven life, leadership, Christianity, education and personal branding.

Zamayirha has used her eight years of experience to garner relationships and network that have capacitated her as a communications, media and public relations consultant. She is passionate about using her insights as a visionary and strategist and has experience as a  consultant for global organisations and entities such as the United Nations, the South Africa government,  as well as progressive individual brands led by individuals such as former CEO of Kulula airlines Gidon Novick, through Home Suite Hotels and globally renown Professor William Gumede.

She began her national career in journalism by being an educational reporter after her three year long involvement in the Fees Must Fall movement. She is passionate about access to quality education skills and training and believes the wealthiest of nations invest in the up-skill and training of their citizens.

She believes personal brands similar to personal leadership are important to thrive in the world first as an individual and secondly in collective scenes. She believes that with every interaction you come in representing an idea and belief system which has replica effects to how the world receives you.

She believes a fulfilled life involves impact and imparting onto others and is a product of that philosophy. 

As a result she uses her knowledge and her experiences to educate encourage and empower those who come after her.
